Kohupiim (curd cheese, farmers cheese) - is a fresh cheese of East European origin. We eat it for breakfast, as dessert or make a real delicious cakes with it. Try it's small version called "kohuke", you can find big variety of those in every food store and super market.
Verivorst (blood sausage) - this is Estonian national dish.Cook some barley and fry up small cut up pieces of salt pork and then mix that with blood. This mixture then gets poured into the casings. It's not real Christmas for us, Estonians .. unless we eat blood sausage served with cranberry jam..mm.. yummi!
Hapukapsad (sour kraut) - Another delicious Christmas dish that we just love. It's finely shredded cabbage that has been fermented by various lactid acid bacteria.
Sult - ad cheese is not a cheese but a meat jelly made with pieces from the head of a calf or pig inaspic. It is usually eaten cold or at room temperature as a luncheon meat. Compared to other ''Sults'' Estonian ''Sult'' is usually less seasoned and made from higher quality meat. Sometimes carrots or greens are added.
Kartulisalat (potato salad) - that dish is made of boiled potatoes + we usually add other vegetables such as boiled carrots, green peas, gherkins also boiled eggs, apples and fried meat or some wieners. (all the food are hashed and mixed) .. For sour we use mayonnaise mixed with sour cream and some flavors..
